Frequently asked Questions
Does ParPilot measure to the front, center or back of greens?
ParPilot measures distances to the center of greens. We are currently working on the algorithm to measure to the front of the green depending on the position you are standing in.
Are all courses on the course list mapped with GPS? And do they all have mapped images?
We use the available Google Maps information to list the courses. If a course has a clear aerial picture it can be mapped using our mapping tool. Any registered user will be able to add the course of his or her choice using this tool.
In our course directory you can search through our library of courses.
How much does it cost?
ParPilot is free of charge to use and explore. We depend on your donations for further development. In the near future options that require payment will become available.
We are working on software upgrades for the future. Many will be free and some will be fee based. However it will always be possible to enjoy the basic ParPilot features for free.
Does it work on my phone?
ParPilot is designed to work on all phones using the Android 1.6 or later platform. However, the GPS features will only work on phones with a GPS chip installed.
Will ParPilot be made available for other platforms?
Future software releases may expand to other platforms. We do not currently have a timeframe in mind for when these releases will be available as this will greatly depend on donations from the community.
Will ParPilot work while traveling abroad?
Downloading the course information requires an internet connection. We recommend talking with your service provider prior to travelling internationally to determine the network charges that you may incur through using internet on your phone. Users can prepare to play abroad and preload selected courses in the near future. This means you will be able to download course data from your home and use this data while travelling abroad, without having to download anything.
How can I request additional features?
Please send your feature requests to info@parpilot.com. We are happy to read comments and suggestions from our users. We are dedicated to building the best possible mobile application for golf. It is our intention to make an interactive suggestions page available on the website soon.
How do I add courses in my country?
ParPilot is adding courses in order of the most populated golfing countries. In addition, we are committed to adding scorecards for every requested course worldwide. Any missing courses, from any country, can be requested. However we depend on you, our users, to support us in mapping courses and making them available.
If your country is not available in the editor or if you come across any other website related problem, please send an email to webmaster@parpilot.com.
How do I map my own courses?
You can create your own course and hole image by creating a ParPilot account. After that, you have the ability to create courses. Also, you can edit any existing course and add holes to it. View the image below if you are unsure how to use the hole editor we provide on this website. You can also view this video from our YouTube channel.
How can I prolong battery life?
The battery life is something that can affect some members, although most report good results. The battery drain is not specifically a result of our software, but is a result of using GPS and having the phone on for an extended period of time.
These are tips to limit the battery use of the phone while golfing:
- Make sure that the phone is fully charged prior to a round.
- Go into your phone settings and turn bluetooth off. If you don't require "assisted GPS" through wifi because you have a real GPS chip on your device, you can turn off wifi as well.
- Only use the phone for locating your ball and for the registration of your hit. You can turn off your screen between those actions to save battery power.
